App: The Athos Codex  |  Developer: Christopher Akritidis  |  Last updated: June 2026

1. What we collect

The app works fully offline without an account. When you choose to sign in with Google to enable cloud sync, we collect:

Apart from the install attribution described below, we do not collect device identifiers, location, or advertising IDs, and no third-party analytics are used.

Regardless of whether you sign in, the app collects anonymous usage analytics: a small, fixed set of in-game events (for example session length, and tutorial or puzzle completion) tied to a random app-generated identifier — not to your account, name, or device. These events never contain personal information and are used only to understand how the game is played, so we can improve it.

On first launch, the app sends the Google Play install referrer and your device's advertising ID to our attribution partner, ByteBrew, which determines whether the install came from one of our advertising campaigns and reports that to the advertising network (Unity Ads). This is used only to measure advertising. It is never linked to your account, your name, or anything you do in the game, and you can reset or delete your advertising ID at any time in your Android settings.

2. How we use it

Account data is used solely to sync your game progress across your own devices. Error reports are used to diagnose and fix bugs. We do not sell your data, and we do not use your game data for advertising; the only data shared for advertising purposes is the install attribution described in section 1.

3. Data storage

Data is stored on a self-hosted server in the EU (Google Cloud, europe-north1). It is protected by encrypted connections (TLS) and row-level security policies that ensure each user can only access their own data.

4. Your rights

You can delete your account and all associated cloud data at any time from within the app (Settings → Cloud Account → Delete account & data). Alternatively, you can submit a deletion request via the link below. Local data on your device is not affected by account deletion.

You can export a copy of your data at any time from the app (Settings → Cloud Account → Export my data).

5. Data retention

Cloud data is kept for as long as you maintain an account. On account deletion, all server-side data is permanently erased within 24 hours.

6. Third parties

Sign-in is handled by Google's OAuth service. Please refer to Google's Privacy Policy for information about how they handle authentication data.

The app offers optional in-app purchases. Payments are processed by Google Play Billing; we do not receive or store your payment-card details. See Google's policies for how purchase data is handled.

Install attribution is handled by ByteBrew, which reports installs to the advertising networks we advertise on (currently Unity Ads). See ByteBrew's Privacy Policy and Unity's Privacy Policy for how they handle that data.
